Die Rules betreffen Lachsfischen im Galway Weir in Irland liegen nun schriftlich vor und können hier gelesen oder ausgedruckt werden. In der Sache erfahren genug wie ich bin, wollte ich mich absichern, ob tatsächlich die Fangquoten wieder so sind wie früher, heisst, ein Lachsfischer in Irland darf pro Jahr 10 Lachse, jedoch maximal 3 pro Tag, entnehmen. So wie es ja nun auch in den Galway Weir Rules 2008 steht. Im Jahre 2007 hat das District Committee nachträglich folgende Rules, geltend allein für das Galway Weir beschlossen:
Die Morning- und Afternoon-Shift mit je 6 Lachsfischern, darf total nur je 2 Lachse (maximal 1 pro Lachsfischer) entnehmen, die Evening-Shift mit ebenfalls 6 Lachsfischern gar keinen, also nur catch&release. Heisst oder hiess, wenn ein Lachsfischer z.B. erst um 07.00 Uhr ans Wasser kam (dafür aber vielleicht schon um 4 aufstehen musste) und die 2 Lachse waren schon am Ufer, dass er dann bis mittags um 14.00 Uhr zwar Lachsfischen darf, aber, wenn er z.B. um 11.00 Uhr seinen einzigen Lachs, z.B. auch einen 1-Pfünder landet, er diesen auch wieder zurücksetzen musste.
Lesen Sie nun den diesbezüglichen Schriftwechsel zwischen mir und den Verantwortlichen. Nach vielem Winden sind nun die Würfel auch für 2008 gefallen: Das District Committee behält sich jederzeit vor, die gleichen Fangrules wie 2007 gelten zu lassen und es ist auch noch nicht klar, wann diese Rules bekannt gegeben werden.
Ich überlasse es nun jedem Lachsfischer, ob er unter diesen Umständen eine Lizenz am Galway Weir buchen will.
Meine persönliche Meinung zum Schluss: Ich akzeptiere jede Entscheidung einer Obrigkeit. Ich erwarte jedoch, dass man sie mir dann präsentiert, wenn ich noch entscheiden kann, ob ich nun mein Geld und meine Zeit einsetzen will und nicht nachher. Ich meine, jeder, der 2008 Fliegenfischen auf Lachse im Galway Weir bucht, sollte sich vielleicht vorher noch versichern, was nun effektiv die Fangrules sind. Ich bekam leider keine Antwort oder umgekehrt nur eine solche, die ihnen alle Möglichkeiten offen lassen, mir aber, wenn ich gebucht und bezahlt habe keine. Das ist die Sorte Geschäfte, auf die sich HRH noch nie eingelassen hat.

We get now from WRFB the Galway Rules 2008.
It is nothing written about the restrictions in case of taking or releasing salmon. Means that, that in the opposite of 2007 each angler, could take up to 3 salmon? Or are the rules still 2 fish per shift and no fish for the evening shift?
I will come over end february and will visit you around march 1st.

The quota for the Corrrib System has been significantly increased in 2008 as outlined in the Newsletter! The quota for the Galway Fishery for the season has not yet been decided, but anglers will be able to catch and retain fish during day time sessions as outlined in regulations leaflet! Anglers fishing in the evening ( fly only ) will be able to catch and retain a fish for the session. As in previous years catch & release will be in operation once bag limits have been reached! Should you require any further clarification on the above let me know!

Thanks for your prompt answer. Sorry, but my english is sometime not good enough to read all details. Means that what you wrote me, that each angler which has a daytime booking can take 3 fish (of course only in case he has not reached the years total of 10), and an evening angler can take 1 fish.
On the other hand you write, that the quota for the Galway Fishery for the next season has not been decided yet.....
When will be made this decision?
I cannot inform a large number of anglers, before all is really clear.

You have read the bag limits correctly! The District Committee will decide the quota, and when this will be done! In the meantime we will be operating the bag limits as outlined!

Sorry, that I come again. I do not know if it is a language or a mentality problem. But your third sentence says to me, that at this time WRFB will operating the bag limits as outlined, means, like in the past until 2006 a salmonfisherman can take maximum 3 fish and a fisherman with an evening licence can take 1 fish in case he has not reached the years limit of 10 fish. But your 2nd senctence means for me, that the District committee will (means in the future) decide the quota, and when this will be done, means to me, it can be whenever, also in may or june and it means also, that they can change the limit rules like 2007.
Do I understand that wrong? When not, when it will be clear what an angler in the Galway Weir can take fish in 2008?

With the significant increase in the quota for the Corrib System for the 2008 season, we would envisage at this time that the bag limits can be operated as outlined on the Galway Fishery during the season! However, I am not in a position at present to confirm when the District Committee will make a decision on the quota, and what it will be!
